State Auditions
We will depart for State Auditions this Friday at 10:00 AM. You will need money for 3 fast food meals and one nice dinner. Dress will be casual. However, please do not wear sweatpants or shorts for the audition. You will play better at your audition if you look nice. Below is a checklist.

Tulsa Trip
Dress for the day will be casual. Please bring business casual for the evening show. We will be walking to the show from the hotel, so wear comfortable shoes & dress warm. You will need money for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory & lunch at Cain’s the next day. Breakfast will be in the hotel the next morning. We will depart the hotel for the Woody Guthrie Museum—your admission there is paid for. After we are finished with the museum we will eat lunch (fast food) and depart for CUHS. The check list is below.

State Band Auditions
State Band Auditions are in Salina at Lakewood Middle School. We will depart CUHS on Friday at 9:35 AM and be home 7:00—8:00 PM on Saturday. You will need to have $$ 3 fast food meals and one nice meal on Friday evening. Dress will be casual. Auditions are blind, but remember to look nice as you will perform better if you are dressed appropriately—please don’t wear shorts, sweat pants for your auditions. Below is a timeline.

Branson Christmas Parade
Students should arrive to load buses at 11:00 AM we will pull out at 11:30 AM. Please eat lunch before you arrive. We will stop at Tanger Outlet Mall to do a little shopping, eat and change into uniforms. Parade start time is 5:00 PM in old town Branson—link to parade route here. We will eat at Lambert’s on the way home.

Arrive at school to load bus at 7:50—we will pull out at 8:00 AM. You will need to wear nice school clothes for the rehearsals and bring classic black concert attire for the concert that evening. Rehearsals and concert is at the Bicknell Center in Pittsburg, KS. Make sure you check your parts for mutes, sticks, mallets, etc.

Columbus Christmas Parade
Students will dress in full uniform for the parade. All students will need to wear some type of Santa Hat. Students may also decorate their instruments. Call time will be 6:00 pm. JH students should arrive dressed in uniform. CUHS band members should be in uniform by 6:30 PM. All band members will warm up at 6:30 PM. Official parade start time is 7:00 PM.
Joint Parade Rehearsal
JR High & CUHS Bands will rehearse together Monday, December 2. JH Band members should report to band room that morning. Do not go to regular first hour class.
Veteran's Day Assembly
Students should arrive dressed in nice dress clothes. Women—dresses, skirts and/or slacks. Men—Dress pants, button up shirt with tie.
TRI-M Safe Walk
The event officially starts at 5:30 PM on the square. All Tri-M members should meet in costume on the square, ready to hand out candy. It is over at 7:00 or until we run out of candy. Whichever comes first!
5K Zombie Run
The run officially begins at 6:30 PM. Students will need to arrive at 5:00 PM in the band room to get makeup and receive final instructions on where to be located. IF you have other assignments, you know what you are to do. ALL band members are to attend for a grade unless you have checked in with the directors.
Home Football - Senior Night
This is Senior Night - Be in full uniform ready to warm up at 6:15 PM. We will walk out at 6:30 to participate in Senior Night. Band seniors need to designate an under classman to carry their instrument out.

JH Band to Neewollah
JH Band will travel to Independence to march in the Neewollah Kiddie Parade on Friday, Oct. 25. Students should arrive at the school dressed in their uniform. Parade starts at 4:00 PM. After the parade the kids will eat dinner in Independence and travel back to CUHS to watch the Home Football game. After the game, approx 9:00 PM, we will board trailers for a hayride & spooky woods at the Holmes Farm. Students will need to bring appropriate clothes for the hayride. We should return back to the school sometime between 11:00—11:30 PM (depending on when we actually take off after the game).

Doors will open at 8:30 AM. Come dressed in uniform. Parade begins at 9:40. Afterwards, put up your instrument and you are free to go.
Home Football - Homecoming
6:00 Call. Be on time. We are wearing FULL uniforms for this game. You should be dressed & ready to warm up at 6:20. We walk out at 6:30 for this game to observe the Homecoming Coronation. If you are a candidate or involved in helping with the coronation ceremony, make arrangements to get your instrument out to the field.
Homecoming Parade - CUHS Band
Wear band t shirt, black dinkles, jeans w/out holes and band hat. After the assembly come to band room, get your instrument and head over to parade lineup. We are first after fire trucks. There will be a bus at the end of the route for large equip. All others walk back. Make sure you meet at the HS to help get your equip of the bus. After you have returned equip to proper storage in Band room you are free to go.
Homecoming Parade - JH
JH Band members will be dismissed at 1:50. Come to band room and get instruments—then we will head over to lineup. Students are to wear the band t shirt and jeans w/out holes. Football boys may wear their jerseys —everyone else should be in band t shirt. At the end of the route there will be a bus for large instruments—percussion equip & tubas. All other students should walk back to the HS with your instrument. DO NOT play your instruments along the walk back! Once you have returned your instrument and/or equipment to storage in the band room, you are free to go.
Jazz Gig
Meet at 6:15 pm. We play for Farm Bureau meeting at 6:45 on the stage. Please wear your band t shirt and jeans w/out holes. We will be done by 7:15 pm. If you wish to eat—they will provide dinner for you at 5:00 in the cafeteria.
Home Football
Report time is 6:00 PM in the band room. We will wear jeans w/out holes, band t shirt, band hat and black dinkles.
State Fair Parade
State Fair Parade is an all day event. We will load at 4:45 AM and pull out promptly at 5:00 AM. We will stop in Augusta at McDonald’s to eat breakfast & you may change into your marching clothes then. We will wear the band t-shirt, jeans (without holes), black dinkles and band hat. You will need $$ for 3 fast food meals. Please refer to the schedule below. Be on time as we will not wait on you.

Home Football
First home game of the season is on a Thursday evening. Please make sure you inform your employer as this is a required performance for a grade. Students will wear the band t-shirt, jeans w/out holes, band hat, and black dinkles. We will meet at 6:00 in the band room —if you are going to be late, please inform the directors or your section leader. Students will remain seated with the band up through the half time performance. Once our performance is over, you are free to go. Make sure you pick up all items from the stands before you go into the band room.
Meet The Titans
Meet in the band room to warm up and tune at 5:30 pm. Please wear your band t shirt—if you are involved in a fall sport you may wear that jersey/shirt. We need to begin walking over to the gym at 5:50 as we are first up on the program. We will play the National Anthem followed by the Fight Song. After we play, I will introduce you by class. Once all band members have been introduced, you are free to go. Please either sit in the stands and watch/participate in the rest of the program or walk back to the gym. Do not stand in the gym foyer or at the top of the stands and talk. Put your best forward and support the other sports.
Band Photo Day
Arrive at the band room by 7:45 & dress into uniform. Once you are dressed meet up in the front lobby. Download form & bring money with you to the photo shoot. All Seniors will get an individual photo! We will take the large group first followed by small groups and then individual photos. Once you are finished, you may change out of uniform & hang out in band room.

JH Band Camp
JH Band Camp is for 7 & 8 Grade Band members. All band members are encouraged to attend. All fall marching music will be taught, band fees and supplies will be ordered, uniforms checked out at this time. This camp gets students off to a good start for the year. Students should wear comfortable clothes & shoes. Students will be given an hour for lunch each day. You may bring your lunch or walk up to sonic.
Make sure to download the band forms & bring with your payment the first day. Forms will also be available in the band room.
Beginning Band Camp
Any new 6th Grade Band member is eligible for Beginning Band Camp. Cost of the camp is $40 for the two weeks. Students will be grouped by sections of instruments and given instruction on the fundamentals of their specific instrument. This camp is optional, if students are enrolled in the 2024-25 Beginning Band, they can still start in the fall if they were unable to attend the camp.

CUHS Graduation
Band members should arrive at 4:00 PM. You will need to take a music stand and your instrument over to the gym. Senior band members need to assign someone to take your instrument over or make sure it is in your chair prior to the event. Students should wear nice professional looking dress clothes. We will play Pomp & Circumstance, Choose Joy and Grand March. As soon as the event is over, please take your instrument and stand back to the band room.
Baccalaureate
Baccalaureate is Sunday, May 12 at 6:00 PM. Band members need to arrive by 5:30 PM. Seniors make sure you put your instrument on your chair. Wear nice professional looking dress clothes. Ladies—dress slacks, dresses, skirts, jump suits; Men- Dress slacks, tie nice shirt and shoes. NO jeans or shorts! We will play Pomp & Circumstance, Spirals of Light and Grand March.
CUHS Recital & Concert
Tri-M Recital is at 2:30. Solos & Ensembles from State Contest will be performed & new Tri-M Nominees will be inducted. If you are involved in this event, 2:00 is call time. All Tri-M members should be in attendance.
The Concert is at 3:30 PM. Call time is 3:10. Come dressed in standard black attire. Concert Band will be first followed by the presentation of the 2023-24 awards. Jazz Band will then perform followed by the annual slide show. All band members should plan to stay for the entire performance.
Four State Honor Band
Meet in band room at 7:50 to load bus, we will depart at 8:00 AM. Wear nice school clothes for the rehearsals & bring classic black concert attire for the evening concert. Lunch will be provided at the Bicknell Center. You will need to bring $$$ for dinner that evening. Refer to the schedule below. Concert is at 7:00 PM at the Bicknell Performing Arts Center, Pittsburg, Ks. Parents are invited to attend.

State Solo/Ensembles will be held on the campus of Andover Central HS on April 27. We will depart CUHS at 10:00 AM on April 26. We will be staying at the Hampton Inn East in Wichita. You will need to have money for lunch, dinner on Friday and lunch/dinner on Saturday. Make sure you have your black concert attire for your performance on Saturday. State Band
State Band Contest is Thursday, April 18 at the Bicknell Center in Pittsburg. You will be dismissed at 9:30 to change into concert attire and load. We will pull out at 10:00 AM. Warm up is 10:55 and we perform on stage at 11:20. Parents are invited to attend. Bring $$$ for lunch afterwards. You should be back at CUHS by 1:45.

Regional Festival @PSU
Regional Festival is Saturday, April 6 at PSU. We will depart CUHS at 7:00 AM. You will need to arrive 10 minutes before to load. You should wear black concert attire for your events.
